Samuel Keith Brown, 84, passed away on January 17, 2022 at Brethren Care in Ashland, Ohio.
Sam was born in Zanesville, Ohio on October 3, 1937 to the late George and Faye (Grimes) Brown. He married Betty Wilcox on November 29, 1960 and she preceded him in death in August, 2016.
Following Sams' High School graduation, he joined the United States Navy serving from 1957 - 1961. Sam owned and operated Sam Brown's Construction for 20 years, while enjoying the "Millie's Diner Club". Sam also enjoyed reading about the Amish and their way of life, model trains especially the Lionel Train line, in the HO, and also N scale. Sam was an avid gardener and always found an opportunity to talk about his farm/garden.
Sam is survived by his children; Michelle Brown of Tucson, Arizona, Tamara (Michel) LaForest, Greenwich; and Matthew Brown of Galion; two siblings; Paul (Carol) Brown, Columbia Station, and Marilyn Bohn of Rock Hill, South Carolina; four grandchildren; Jacinta Esqueer, Christopher LaForest, Kayona Laforest, Jessica Laforest, and four great grandchildren; Carter Smith, Evan LaForest, Sebastian Cruise and Jayden Fenstermaker.
In addition to his parents and his wife, Sam was preceded in death by his son, David Brown; grandson, Robert-Michel LaForest; two sisters, Martha Wilcox and Sally Kirkbride, and brother Joe Brown.
Friends may call on Wednesday, January 19, 2022 from 11:00 AM until the time of service at 12:00 PM at the Mark A. Schneider-Gompf Funeral Home, 303 Portland Way N., Galion with Pastor Joe Stafford officiating. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, 6916 West State Route 95, Chesterville, Ohio where full Military Honors will be rendered.
Memorial contributions may be made to the family to help start Sam's Orchard. The family is requesting live plants instead of cut flowers.
