Sarah Jean (Staats) Johnson

Sarah Jean Johnson, 68, of Galion passed away on Friday, November 19, 2021 at Galion Avita Hospital.

Sarah was born on April 18, 1953 in Nevada, Ohio to the late Fred and Iva (Dummit) Staats. She married Walter Johnson on February 7, 1970 and they spent a wonderful 51 years together.

Sarah was a graduate of Northmor High School. She enjoyed working as a dietary aid at Village Care Nursing Home in Galion. Sarah worked there for 17 years before her retirement. She would often been found in her kitchen, cooking, which she loved to do for her family. Sarah also loved to play bingo and quilting. Above all else, she adored her family, especially her grandchildren.

Left to cherish Sarah's memories are her husband, Walter Johnson; her daughters; Marie (Steve) Plank of Galion and Mandy (Troy) Shaw of Crestline; her 7 grandchildren;Robin Fraley, Kaitlynn Wambaa, Brooke Mandalapu, Marcelo Reyes, Luke Reyes, Haley Amert, Natalie Conkel and Tamara Shaw; her 7 great-grandchildren; Gabriella Valles, Aceyn Fraley, Kaia Wambaa, Nia Wambaa, Stella Wambaa, Sofia Scott and Julian Mandalapu; and her brother; Roger (Linda) Staats of Galion.

In addition to her parents, Sarah is preceded in death by her daughter, Connie Castro; sisters; Mary Thomas, Barb Swim, Glayds Brocklesby, Dolly Lillo, Norma Seitz, Rosie Mayle and Ilene Gelvin; and brothers; Junior, Lester, Buddy, Bobbie, and Eddie Staats.

Friends may call from 9:00 am until 11:00 am on Wednesday, November 24, 2021 at the Schneider-Gompf Funeral Home, 303 Portland Way North, Galion. The service will be immediately following at 11:00 am with Dr. Rick McCartney officiating.
