Shirley Ann (Mitchell) Hill

It is with the heaviest but fullest of hearts that we announce the passing of Shirley Ann Hill, 82, of Galion, who died unexpectedly on Saturday, November 30, 2024, in Navarre, Florida.

Shirley was born in Mansfield on June 20, 1942, to the late Jack and Mildred Mitchell. She married Ervin "Dick" Hill on July 25, 1970, who preceded her in death on March 21, 2004.

Shirley dedicated her life to showing God's love through her service to others. Whether it was raising her children, caring for grandchildren and great-grandchildren, working as a nurse's aide at Atwood Manor for 20 years, or serving as her mother's caregiver, Shirley had a unique ability to make people feel loved and cared for.

Shirley most enjoyed spending her time with family and eating good food. She was never short of a sense of humor, often bringing smiles and laughter to those around her. With a heart full of love for animals, Shirley made sure her pets lived the good life, as her family often lovingly pointed out.

She was a devoted wife, sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, and is survived by her brother, James L. Mitchell of Medina and her sister Bonnie and Jonah Keaton of Galion; her daughters, Sherry and Danny Greco of Mary Esther, FL, Julia Lambert of Mt. Gilead, Terri and Sean Longstreth of Galion, and Lori and Chad Davis of Bucyrus; her step-children: Michael Hill of Galion, Pamela Hill of Hixson, TN., Rebecca and Robert Gardner of Galion, Kimberly and Brian Daugherty of Hixson, TN., and Kristine and Larry Cheeseman of Soddy Daisy, TN.; her numerous grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her stepson, Mark Hill, and her grandson, Joey Coots.

Friends may call on Sunday, December 8, 2024, from 11:00am to 1:00pm at the Mark A. Schneider-Gompf Funeral Home, 303 Portland Way N., Galion. The funeral service will take place at the funeral home on Monday, December 9, 2024, at 1:00pm with Pastor Rodney Noblit officiating. Burial will follow the funeral service in Fairview Cemetery, Galion.
