Walter Burton Dewiel, 86, of Crestline, was met at the Pearly Gates of Heaven by his loving wife Eileen on Wednesday, June 5, 2024.

Walter was born in Crestline on May 17, 1938, to the late Burton and Glenna (Roop) Dewiel. On September 22, 1963, Walter would marry Eileen (Borts) Dewiel, and they would cherish 37 years of loving marriage before Eileen's passing on December 26, 2001.

Walter was a dedicated member of the Trinity Lutheran Church of Crestline, and an active participant in the Crestline Lions Club.

Walter found joy in farming, fishing at Lake Erie, engaging in monthly Saturday Euchre games, woodworking in his home shop, and trap shooting with guns. His meticulous nature reflected in his work and his belief that "His way was the best way." Above all, he dedicated his time to the church, always ready to lend a helping hand to those in need.

Left to cherish Walter's memories is his daughter; Diane Dewiel of Crestline.

Friends may call on Monday, June 10, 2024, from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM at the Mark A. Schneider-Gompf Funeral Home; 223 W. Main St. Crestline. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 11, 2024, at 11:00 AM in the Trinity Lutheran Church, 410 North Thoman St., Crestline, with Pastor Diana Seaman officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery where he will be laid to rest next to his wife Eileen.
