Walter "Walt" Reed Leicy, 80, of Crestline, passed away on Saturday, June 26, 2021 at Mill Creek Nursing Home in Galion.
Walt was born in Mansfield on September 19, 1940 to the late Walter and Ileen (Reed) Leicy. His mother died at childbirth and Walt's grandmother, Florence Leicy and his cousin Velma Bletz helped his father to raise him. Walt's father would later marry Ruth (Reynolds) Leicy, who became Walt's mother at age four.
On October 13, 1962, Walt married Eileen (Noullet) Leicy, and she preceded him in death on May 25, 2004.
Walt graduated from Crestline High School in 1958 and attended Ohio Northern University. He was a faithful member of the former First English Lutheran Church of Crestline and the Trinity Lutheran Church of Crestline. He served on the board of Greenlawn Cemetery in Crestline. Walt Retired in 2000 from PPG Industries, Inc. after 41 years of service. He was also a member of the Crestline Shunk Museum, the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie #859, Crestline, the VFW Post #2920 Crestline, the Galion Masonic Lodge #414 Free and Accepted Masons, and the Ancient Scottish Rite of Columbus. Walt enjoyed classic cars, and harness racing, as well as serving on the Community Christmas board.
He is survived by his sister-in-law, Barbara (Hershel) Horn of Crestline; nephew; Todd (LeeAnn) Horn of Galion; great-niece and nephew; Taylor and Braeden Horn of Galion; cousin; Linda Wells of Stubenville; special friend; Deirdre Sherer of Crestline and her family, and numerous cousins.
In addition to his parents, Walt was preceded in death by both his grandmother Florence Leicy and cousin Velma Bletz who were strong mother figures in his life.
Friends may call on Friday, July 2, 2021 from 11:00AM to 12:45PM at Trinity Lutheran Church; 410 N. Thoman St. Crestline. Masonic Funeral Rites will start at 12:45pm, and the funeral service will be immediately following with Pastor Diana Seaman officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Trinity Lutheran Church in care of the funeral home.
