William Henry Baker, Jr., 89, passed away on Monday, March 17, 2025, at his residence in Crestline.
William was born in Mt. Gilead, on June 14, 1935, to the late William and Bertha (Long) Baker. He married Diana (Counterman) Baker on November 23, 1957, and she preceded him in death on January 25, 2015.
William dedicated his professional life to PPG, where he served as a line operator for 37 and a half years, earning the respect and admiration of his colleagues. He was not only known for his work ethic but also for his exceptional skills as a handyman, always ready to fix anything in the house or car.
In his leisure time, William enjoyed listening to HAM Radio and the soothing tunes of the Grand Ole Opry. He was an avid fan of the Cleveland Indians, often found cheering for his favorite team during their games. He lived a life filled with dedication to his family and a passion for gardening, which provided him joy and tranquility throughout his years.
William is survived by his daughter Doreen Baker; son, Robert (Jennifer) Baker, and an adopted son, Joe Fikes, as well as nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and spouse, William was preceded in death by five sisters, Belva Ritzhaup, Jane Hardman. Iva Golf, Ruth Jones and Vivian Hardman.
Friends may call on Thursday, March 20, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Mark A. Schneider-Gompf Funeral Home, 223 West Main St., Crestline. Graveside services will be held on Friday, March 21, 2025, at 2:00 PM in Crawford County Memory Gardens.
