William Bessinger Obituary

William "Bill" E. Bessinger passed away on Thursday, December 9, 2021, at his residence in Galion, Ohio.

Bill was born on March 12, 1947, to the late Woodrow W. and Alma M. (Sharrock) Bessinger. He was a 1965 graduate of Galion High School and a 1974 graduate of the Ohio Fire Academy.

After joining the Navy 1966 until 1970, he served Crawford County Veterans Office for 35 years where he was a Service Officer.

On July 17, 1970, Bill married the love of his life Mary Wargo.

He was a member of Crossroads Community Church of Mansfield where he participated in Crossroads Motorcycle Club.

Bill enjoyed and loved his pets and rescuing cats, racing dart carts, he fed the animals daily at Amanns Reservoir, was a Cub Scout Leader, enjoyed coaching T-Ball in his younger years and was a member of the Crawford County Coon Hunters Club as well as the American Legion Scarborough Post 243 of Galion and the Amvets. Bill dearly loved all his grandchildren and were the joy in his life. He loved and cared for multiple cats and dogs, Andre Elvis, Juan, Charlie and Pedro as well as his bird Merlyn. He was affectionately referred to as "Skippy" by his Children and "Popsy" by his Grandchildren.

William is survived by his loving wife, Mary (Wargo) Bessinger of Galion; a Daughter Billie Colley of Sherman, Illinois and son Jeff (Sarah) Besssinger of Bucyrus; Sister Janet Bessinger of Bucyrus, brother Robert (Phyllis) Bessinger of Columbus, Georgia, Sister- in- law, Eva George of Peru, Indiana; 3 grandchildren; Allison, Evan and Maxwell Bessinger and numerous nieces and nephews. Special friends; Trisha (Bo) Jaworsky of Mansfield and Bonnie Gamble of Mansfield.

In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his sister, Jeanette St. Clair and sister-in- law Judith Sampsel.

A Celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
