William "Bill" George Biglin, 94, of Crestline passed away at Bucyrus Avita Hospital on Sunday, November 21, 2021.
Bill was born in Shelby, Ohio on May 5, 1927 to the late George and Irene (Auck) Biglin. Throughout his life, Bill was married to Violet Johns, June Hoerr, and Helen Bush and they all preceded him in death.
Bill proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1950 until 1952. During the time of his service, Bill served in the Korean War Era and was stationed in Okinawa, Japan. After serving in the military, Bill went on to work for North Electric for 26 years and later worked at PPG for 18 years where he would retire in 1989. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Crestline. Bill was also a member of the VFW Post 2920 , the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie #859 and a life member of the National Rifle Association. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Bill enjoyed taking his boat out to Lake Erie to fish. He also loved to golf and trap shoot clay pigeons. After retirement, Bill and his wife, Helen would drive over 50 miles to eat at different restaurants. He was a jokester and was always making people laugh. Bill never met a stranger.
Bill is survived by his children; William Biglin of Colorado, Georgia Belt of Crestline, and Joann Brauer of Decatur, IL; grandchildren; Samantha Biglin, Heather Biglin, Devin Arndt, Kristopher Arndt, Kalista Arndt, Robert Brauer and Lindsay Brauer, 10 great-grandchildren, siblings; Dale Biglin of Crestline, Paul Biglin of Eustis, FL., Wayne (Linda) Biglin of Galion, Ruth (Loren) Claus of Crestline and Carol Whitney of Galion.
In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his sons; Darcy and Joseph Biglin, his siblings; Carla Skinner, Carl Biglin, John Biglin and James Biglin; sisters-in-law; Peggy and June Biglin; brother-in-law, Gayle Whitney; and son-in-law; Tom Brauer.
Friends may call on Saturday, November 27, 2021 from 10:00 am until 12:00 pm with a vigil service starting at 11:30 am, at the Mark A. Schneider-Gompf Funeral Home, 223 W. Main St. Crestline. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Saturday, December 11, 2021 at 10:30 am with Father Jeff Smith officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery where full military honors will be rendered.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church or Macular Degeneration Association, in care of the funeral home.
