William Frederick Earle Herschler

William "Bill" F.E. Herschler, 78, of Galion passed away on Tuesday, July 13, 2021 at Altercare in Bucyrus.

Bill was born in Bucyrus, Ohio on July 10, 1943 to the late Frederick and Lois (Chandler) Herschler. He married his first wife, Nancy Herschler and she preceded him in death. Bill would later marry Susan (Horning) Gates on July 11, 1998 and she survives him in Galion.

Bill was a graduate of Bucyrus High School, Class of 1961. After high school, he served his country honorably in the Army National Guard. He would work many years at Bucyrus City Schools before his retirement. Bill was a longtime member of Grace Point Church in Galion and was an avid golfer, he also enjoyed following the Cleveland Indians. He loved spending his time at Lake Erie and Madeira Beach in Florida. Bill also held memberships at the Galion Moose Lodge and Valley View golf course where he can brag that he shot a hole-in-one.

In addition to his wife, Bill is survived by his son; Barry (Cassie) Herschler of Bucyrus; step-children; Scott (Missy) Gates of Galion and Tiffany Gates of Northfield; grandchildren, Hayden (Abbey) Herschler of Marysville, Carson and Kale Herschler both of Bucyrus, Alexandra (Andy) Craft of Mansfield, Samantha (Thomas) Shawk of Grovetown, GA and Brooklyn Gates of Galion; siblings, Molly (Bob) Case of Port Clinton and Vikki Carter of Marion.

In addition to his parents and first wife, Bill is preceded in death by his son, Troy Herschler and brother, Frank Herschler.

Friends may call on Monday, July 19, 2021 from 10:00am until 12:00pm at Grace Point Church, 683 Portland Way N., Galion. The funeral service will be immediately following with Pastor Paul Walter officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, in care of Altercare; or the Hattie Larlham Foundation, in care of the funeral home.
