William "Bill" Arthur Switzer, Sr.

William "Bill" Arthur Switzer Sr., 90 of Galion, passed away surrounded by his family on Sunday, June 30, 2024, at his son Mark and Cathy Switzer's home. He was born on March 25, 1934, in Galion, Ohio to the late Herbert and Mildred (Pletcher) Switzer.

Bill joined the United States Navy, serving our country faithfully from 1954 until 1958. He married Dorothy Lynch on June 13, 1956, and they spent 67 years of marriage together before Dorothy's recent passing on May 17, 2024. Bill will be remembered for being a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather.

Bill was a kind-hearted man who always extended a helping hand to those in need. He had a passion for fishing and eagerly anticipated his annual fishing trip to Florida. In the summer, he found joy in hosting family swimming parties at his home, creating lasting memories with his loved ones.

Bill is survived by his sons; Mark (Cathy) Switzer of Crestline and William (Deborah) Switzer Jr. of Oyster Creek, TX; grandchildren; Adam (Rebecca) Keister, Aaron Keister, Sara Diosi, Ashley Blunt, great grandchildren; Ashton Keister, Korwin Keister, Leia Diosi, Kayley Dripps, Crystal Wood, AJ Blunt, CJ Blunt, great-great-grandchild; Georgia Keister; and his siblings; Janet (Garry) Wade of Galion and Betty McClary of TN.

In addition to his parents and wife, Bill was preceded in death by his two daughters; Karen Keister and Julie Switzer; and his brothers; Edwin and Donald "Doc" Switzer.

Friends may call on Saturday, July 6, 2024, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Mark A. Schneider-Gompf Funeral Home, 303 Portland Way N., Galion. The service will immediately follow at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery where full military honors will be rendered. Bill will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
