Gene L. Gompf, C.F.S.P

Gene L. Gompf completed his education at the Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science in 1985. After serving his apprenticeship under his father, Robert Gompf, he received his license as both a funeral director and embalmer in May 1986. In January 2013, Gene was awarded the designation of Certified Funeral Service Practitioner (C.F.S.P), by the Academy of Professional Funeral Service Practice.

Gene is active in the community. He is a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, a Lions Club member, serves on the Hospice of Morrow County Board of Directors, Morrow County Chamber of Commerce and serves on the Morrow County Hospital Ethics Committee to name a few. All of these activities are in addition to being the dedicated father of five children and 6 grandchildren.

LeAnne S. Gompf

LeAnne S. Gompf received her Funeral Director’s license in November 1990. She served her two year apprenticeship under her father-in-law, Robert Gompf and her husband, Gene. LeAnne is active in her local church, is part of the Worship team and currently serves as vice-chair for the Morrow County Chamber of Commerce board. She is the mother of 5 children and she is enjoying her role as Nana to 6 grandchildren.

Gene and LeAnne purchased the business in October 2016.


Geoffrey H. Gompf

Licensed Funeral Director, Monuments & Advanced Funeral Planner

Geoffrey H. Gompf is the third of the third generation to join the family business. He received his bachelor’s degree in history from The Ohio State University. In 2016, Geoffrey began a two-year apprenticeship under his dad, Gene. While working on this funeral director’s apprenticeship, Geoffrey also attended Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science and received his degree in Mortuary Science in 2018.

The youngest of five Gompf children, Geoffrey is active in Mount Gilead Lion’s Club, Crestline Noon Lion's Club and serves on the Keep Morrow County Beautiful and Crestline Youth Sports boards. Geoffrey is also a community member of the VFW #2920, and the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie #859, Crestline.  He also works alongside his brother Greg, with Gompf Monuments.

In 2017, Geoffrey married his wife Whitney with whom he has one son, Grier and two Labrador retrievers, Wrangler and Willie. When he’s not working in the fall, you can find him enjoying Ohio State football, cheering on his Buckeyes. 




Morgan N. Eicher

Morgan is the daughter of Tammy (Crager) Eicher, lifelong resident of Galion, and Tim Eicher, graduate of Crestline. She was raised in Galion along with her two sisters. She graduated from Galion High School in 2015 and she received her Associate Degree of Science in 2019 from North Central State College. In 2020, Morgan graduated from Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science, earning The Ohio Embalmers Association Wakeham-Inman Award. She is a first-generation mortician. Morgan joined Mark. A Schneider-Gompf Funeral Services in 2020 and served her apprenticeship under Gene Gompf. Morgan became a licensed funeral director in 2021 and is eager to serve the Galion and Crestline communities.

Morgan cherishes time spent with her family and friends, especially her nieces and nephews. She is a proud and loving owner of her two rambunctious four-legged fur babies, Kaya and Maverick. In her spare time, Morgan enjoys being outdoors, nature walking, camping, crafting and reading.


Michalene N. Gompf-Oates

Michalene Gompf-Oates is the first of the third generation to enter the funeral service arena. She received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in December 2002 from Bowling Green State University majoring in Journalism and Telecommunications with a minor in Psychology. Michalene served her Funeral Director’s Apprenticeship under her father, Gene. She received her Funeral Director’s license in September 2005. Michalene and her husband Craig are the proud parents of three very active children Makenna, Makenzie and Cade.

The oldest of the five Gompf children, Michalene has been active in community and church activities from her earliest recollections. Some of her activities included church choir and youth group, dance, high school sports, serving as a Big Sister with the Big Brother and Big Sister Organization and of course, hauling all those younger siblings everywhere.

Frederick W. Schenk is a Licensed Funeral Director and  Certified Preneed Consultant with both the Crestline and Galion locations of Schneider Gompf Funeral Homes. He is a lifelong Ohioan, Ohio State University graduate, and licensed funeral professional since 1992. Specializing in Advanced Funeral Planning since 1996, Fred has been successful helping thousands of central and north central Ohio families obtain the “peace of mind” that accompanies well thought out funeral planning by treating each family as if they were his own. Married to his wife, Karen, since 1992, they share pride in both their adult daughters, Anneliese and Claire.

He is a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, and the Knights of Columbus. His hobbies include his pets, livestock farming and most sports.


Barbara DiPietro

Barbara DiPietro

Office Administrator

Barbara DiPietro is the office Administrator in Crestline.  She comes to us after working thirty years as a Legislative Manager for AT&T in Cleveland, Chicago and Columbus.

Barbara is an active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church where she and her husband John, are extraordinary communion distributors, gift bearers, and past members of the Parish Council, Finance Committee and School Committee.  They both serve as volunteers for the Crawford County Meals on Wheels program.  Barbara enjoys dancing, reading, baking, crocheting, word puzzles, and watching college football, especially the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame. 



Laurie Bodkins Rinehart

Laurie Bodkins Rinehart, the daughter of Kenneth Bodkins Sr. and the late Sherry Geib Bodkins was born on August 2,1972 and is a lifelong resident of Galion. A proud graduate of the Galion High School, Class of 1990. 

Laurie serves as our office administrator and will lend a hand in any situation needed.

Laurie and her husband, Rob, have two very active children, Austin and Kourtney, whom always seem to keep them hoping with all their activities.

When Laurie isn’t doing her funeral home duties, she is overseeing operations at Victory Lanes, the family business bowling alley in Galion.

Laurie enjoys spending as much time possible with her family, going to Florida on yearly vacations and relaxing days around the pool.  In her free time she loves to cook and bake.



Jamie L. Bailey

Office Administrator

Jamie is an active member of North Woodbury Alliance Church and has been a Morrow County resident for most of her life. She and her husband Jim enjoy spontaneous weekend road trips, traveling to the beach and working in their vegetable and flower gardens. Spending time with family is one of Jamie’s favorite things to do, especially with the grandchildren.

Ed was a 1976 graduate of Crestline High School. After graduation he would go on to be a peace officer, starting for Crestline Police Department, and later working for and retiring with the Morrow County Sheriffs Office.

Ed is a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Crestline. He and his wife Robin have four adult children and six grandchildren. Robin and Ed reside in Crestline with their huskies. Ed enjoys camping, woodworking, bowling, and NASCAR. 


Denise Belcastro

Funeral Assistant

Denise Belcastro is a retired history teacher. She taught at St. Joseph Catholic School in Crestline and retired from Lexington Junior High School.  She attended St. Joseph Catholic Elementary School and is a graduate of Crestline High School, Class of 1975.  She obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Secondary Education and a Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Ashland University.

 

Denise is a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Crestline where she serves as an extraordinary communion distributor and is the moderator for the School Advisory Council.   She also volunteers for the Crawford County Meals on Wheels. Denise is an avid animal lover and lives with her cat, Oliver and her shih tzu mix,  Sophie.  In her spare time Denise enjoys golf, reading, yard work and spending time with family and friends.


James C. Ratliff

Funeral Assistant

Moe Ratliff graduated from Crestline High School and Ohio University. He worked 20 years in production inventory control at Ohio Brass, Mansfield, and was the former owner of the Kork and Kap in Crestline. He is a member of the VFW #2920, and the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie #859, Crestline. Moe is married to his wife, Diane, has one son, and seven grandchildren. He enjoys golf, playing cards,  all sporting events, and attending his grandchildren’s activities.


Robert W. VanRiper

Maintenance

Bob was a 1970 graduate of Mansfield Senior High School. He was married for 33 years and has three children; two daughters and a son, 7 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Bob retired in 2016 from driving truck. He enjoys playing golf and spending time with family.
