Gene L. Gompf, C.F.S.P

Gene L. Gompf completed his education at the Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science in 1985. After serving his apprenticeship under his father, Robert Gompf, he received his license as both a funeral director and embalmer in May 1986. In January 2013, Gene was awarded the designation of Certified Funeral Service Practitioner (C.F.S.P), by the Academy of Professional Funeral Service Practice.

Gene is active in the community. He is a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, a Lions Club member, serves on the Hospice of Morrow County Board of Directors, Morrow County Chamber of Commerce and serves on the Morrow County Hospital Ethics Committee to name a few. All of these activities are in addition to being the dedicated father of five children and 6 grandchildren.

LeAnne S. Gompf

LeAnne S. Gompf received her Funeral Director’s license in November 1990. She served her two year apprenticeship under her father-in-law, Robert Gompf and her husband, Gene. LeAnne is active in her local church, is part of the Worship team and currently serves as vice-chair for the Morrow County Chamber of Commerce board. She is the mother of 5 children and she is enjoying her role as Nana to 6 grandchildren.

Gene and LeAnne purchased the business in October 2016.


Christy A. Linton

Christy A. Linton

Advanced Funeral Planner Licensed Funeral Director & Embalmer

Christy Linton was born and raised in Galion and graduated from Galion High School in 1996. Christy attended Heidelberg College and is a 1999 graduate of the Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science. She is a licensed funeral director and embalmer and chose to return to the community to serve her apprenticeship with the Mark A. Schneider Funeral Home. She is a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Galion, and has served on the Parish Council. She is a member of the Galion Kiwanis Club and enjoys volunteering in the community. Christy married Wesley in 2003 and they have a German shepherd, Beck. Christy and Wes share a passion for deer hunting, bear hunting, fishing, and attending NASCAR races. She is also a member of Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge #303 in Galion and the VFW #2920 in Crestline.


Ed Wirick

Advanced Funeral Planner Licensed Funeral Director & Embalmer

Ed Wirick was born and raised in Crestline and graduated from Crestline High School. He attended the Ohio State Mansfield Branch and was a 1999 graduate of the Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science. He served his apprenticeship at the Mark A. Schneider Funeral Home.

Ed has been a lifelong member of St. Joseph Catholic Church of Crestline. He is also a member of the Crestline Kiwanis Club, Crestline Lions Club, and Knights of Columbus MSG, Leo W. Frye Council #2642, Crestline. He has served on the Crestline Civil Service Commission as well.

Ed is excited to be back at the funeral home and to serve the communities of Crestline and Galion.

He is a member of Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge #303 in Galion and the VFW #2920 in Crestline. Ed and his wife Keri-Ann live in Crestline with their daughter, Molly. Their son Spencer is attending college and serves with the Army National Guard.


Barbara DiPietro

Barbara DiPietro

Office Administrator

Barbara DiPietro is the office Administrator in Crestline.  She comes to us after working thirty years as a Legislative Manager for AT&T in Cleveland, Chicago and Columbus.

Barbara is an active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church where she and her husband John, are extraordinary communion distributors, gift bearers, and past members of the Parish Council, Finance Committee and School Committee.  They both serve as volunteers for the Crawford County Meals on Wheels program.  Barbara enjoys dancing, reading, baking, crocheting, word puzzles, and watching college football, especially the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame.

Office Administrator

Barbara Horn has been the office administrator in Crestline and Galion since 2011. She retired from PPG Industries, Inc. After 42 Years of service. 

Barb and her Husband Hershel have on son Todd and his wife LeeAnn and two grandchildren, Taylor and Braeden.  She enjoys cheering on The Ohio State Buckeyes, the Cleveland Cavaliers, and the Cleveland Indians. Most of all she love spending time with her family and friends.


Laurie Bodkins Rinehart

Office Administrator

Laurie Bodkins Rinehart, the daughter of Kenneth Bodkins Sr. and the late Sherry Geib Bodkins was born on August 2,1972 and is a lifelong resident of Galion. A proud graduate of the Galion High School, Class of 1990. 

Laurie serves as our office administrator and will lend a hand in any situation needed.

Laurie and her husband, Rob, have two very active children, Austin and Kourtney, whom always seem to keep them hoping with all their activities.

When Laurie isn’t doing her funeral home duties, she is overseeing operations at Victory Lanes, the family business bowling alley in Galion.

Laurie enjoys spending as much time possible with her family, going to Florida on yearly vacations and relaxing days around the pool.  In her free time she loves to cook and bake.



Fred Schenk

Fred Schenk

Licensed Funeral Director, Certified Preneed Consultant

Frederick W. Schenk is a Licensed Funeral Director and  Certified Preneed Consultant with both the Crestline and Galion locations of Schneider Gompf Funeral Homes. He is a lifelong Ohioan, Ohio State University graduate, and licensed funeral professional since 1992. Specializing in Advanced Funeral Planning since 1996, Fred has been successful helping thousands of central and north central Ohio families obtain the “peace of mind” that accompanies well thought out funeral planning by treating each family as if they were his own. Married to his wife, Karen, since 1992, they share pride in both their adult daughters, Anneliese and Claire.

He is a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, and the Knights of Columbus. His hobbies include his pets, livestock farming and most sports.


Harold Cramer

Harold Cramer

Harold Cramer served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War and retired from PPG in 1992 after 44 years of service. He is a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Galion. He and his wife, Mary have three daughters, six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and his dog, Angel. Harold started his first job at nine years old where he learned a strong work ethic. He enjoys keeping his yard pristine.


Steven Nelson

Steven Nelson

Steven A. Nelson is a native of Galion and a Galion High School graduate.  He is a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Galion. Steve is a member of the Knights of Columbus #1234, Galion and the Galion Elks Lodge BPOE #1191. He also volunteers with the Outreach Program at his church. Steve and his wife Francine have two daughters and sons-in-law, Christy and Wes Linton and Cheri and Scott Wintersteller and two grandchildren, Greta and Van Wintersteller. In his spare time, Steve enjoys spending time with family and friends, golfing, playing cards, and watching NASCAR.


Dennis Sterling

Dennis Sterling

Dennis Sterling has worked for the Galion and Crestline funeral homes since 2014. He is a retired law enforcement officer for 27 years and a former labor relations specialist for 10 years with the Fraternal Order of Police of Ohio. 

Dennis and his wife, Lynn, have resided in the Galion area for the past 15 years. Dennis has 3 adult children, Charles and his wife Lisa of Mt. Gilead; Margaret of Nelsonville; and Willian and his wife and 2 children in Cincinnati. Lynn has one son, William and his wife Loren who reside in New York. 

Dennis enjoys NSCAR auto racing, WWE wrestling, and traveling with Lynn across the USA. 

Dennis and Lynn are both active in the Crestline United Methodist Church.


James C. Ratliff

James C. Ratliff

Moe Ratliff graduated from Crestline High School and Ohio University. He worked 20 years in production inventory control at Ohio Brass, Mansfield, and was the former owner of the Kork and Kap in Crestline. He is a member of the VFW #2920, and the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie #859, Crestline. Moe is married to his wife, Diane, has one son, and seven grandchildren. He enjoys golf, playing cards,  all sporting events, and attending his grandchildren’s activities.
